Mandy Hoekstra, PTA
Mandy joined the ProActive Physical Therapy team in April of 2018. She graduated from
WITCC with a Associated of Applied Science Physical Therapist Assistant degree and prior to that had received a Bachelors of Science degree in Exercise Science from Dordt College. Mandy grew up in Sanborn, and she graduated from Western Christian High School in Hull. She began her PTA career in the hospital setting in which she treated inpatient, home health, nursing home, and outpatient along with assisting with athletic enhancement clinics. She then followed this by practicing as a PTA for a couple of years in skilled nursing facilities around the area. As a PTA, she loves how she is able to work alongside other Physical Therapists and Assistants to help one achieve their optimal strength and mobility in order to function in their daily life. Mandy and her husband Justin live in Hull. Together they have four children whom keep them very busy. Outside the clinic, her time is spent with family and friends, attending her kids’ activities, playing in various volleyball and slow-pitch leagues, being involved with church, and volunteering as an EMT.
Q: What makes you excited to jump out of bed and head to work each day?
Every day provides an opportunity to help someone reduce pain, achieve their goals, and improve their health and function. Also, I enjoy the opportunity to be able to work alongside other professionals who care enough to provide the best possible care for each individual and their needs.
Q: What led to your decision to work at ProActive?
I choose to work at ProActive because of the opportunity to help people improve their daily living tasks, work tasks, and leisure activities. Also, I was excited to be able to work with knowledgeable professionals that ultimately strive to achieve optimal function for each individual that comes to ProActive.
Q: What is one thing you’d like every patient to walk away with from their experience at ProActive Physical Therapy?
I hope that each patient feels they were given the best treatment and tools in order to function at their highest level in their daily life. I also hope each patient knows that we as a staff at ProActive truly care about their individual health and functional condition.
